If you’re dealing with established furniture and materials or “reading from scratch” with an empty space, the design concepts and values will also be used as a reference when selecting anything. The components are the instruments or raw materials, which are the fundamentals of a painter just like paintings. The architectural elements involve room, axis, form, colour, and texture. The architecture concepts contribute to how these components are used, which are equilibrium, concentration, flow, proportion which size, and harmony and cohesion.Do you want to learn more? Item #1: Space determines the limits and imposes the constraints on the practical and aesthetic stuff that you may do. Typically you won’t decide the room; rather, you’ll face the task of making good use of the available space.
Item #2: Line The lines in a space are second only to major colour when it comes to determining a room’s general tone or sound. The window design lines will support the room’s dominant side. For certain cases the prevailing line is linear rather than angled (vertical, lateral, or diagonal). Your decision to emphasize the position of the lines will dictate the tone that you want to build.
Vertical lines bring height and integrity, producing an aura of greater formality. Vertical lines equalize the horizontal lines used in most furniture as well.
Horizontal lines appear to build a sense of restfulness and informality. We fit well in informal quarters, even as relief to formal quarters ‘ heavy verticals.
Diagonal lines are drawing attention and leading the eye. When accompanied by verticals or diagonals in comparison, they may be unsettling.
Curved lines add a softening effect to the room and keep it from becoming too rigid. To keep the room from becoming too soft and overly feminine, use curved lines with some restraint.
Item #3: Shape Lines that connect together create an object’s form, or design, that in effect impacts a room’s overall look. Straight lines construct circles, rectangles and triangles. Curved lines shape ovals and circles. The most common shape is the rectangle, which is often the dominant type in a space. Triangles have support, and streamlined shapes smooth surface contours.
Element #4: Colour will render a space beautiful by painting more than any other feature. The mood may be set by colour. It may render a space bigger or smaller, colder or hotter. This may conceal unsightly characteristics or attract the subject of scrutiny. Also with the smallest furnishings a room may be changed with the correct usage of colour.
Item #5: Surface quality plays an ever more significant function in home design. Physical texture is the apparent smoothness or roughness of a substance. Using more textured, nubby or rugged visual pattern fabrics to preserve and improve a relaxed look. Smooth, polished textures like velvet, moiré, chintz and fabric-like presence in a space help a more formal look.
